ACTIVITIES
The European Edge Cities Network has a number of activities. Having ongoing activities are important to the Network – only in this way are knowledge sharing and best practice obtained. The EECN meetings take place biannually, and consist of elected members’ meeting, steering group meeting and a seminar on relevant topics.
Furthermore, the EECN members are carrying out common EU projects and do study visits as well as professional peer-to-peer exchanges on all levels of the member organizations. The activities will be in line with the 3-year Strategy and Action Plan.
Present projects
Innovation Hubs for Edge Cities
The idea of the project comes from the Edge Cities Network that brings together cities on the edge of the major capitals of Europe. The Edge Cities have in common economic, cultural and social challenges derived of their geographic situation. The general objective of this project is to identify and exchange Good Practices about support and promotion of local entrepreneurship.

Summer Camp
Back in 2010, young groups in Ireland, Turkey, Sweden and Denmark conceived the idea of launching a youth network and bringing together active youth in a Summer Camp. The Summer Camp involves approximately 50 youths. During the summer camp workshop will be organized with experts and decision makers around topics like:
- How to activate and involve young people in youth policies at all levels
- How to better communicate with youth groups including youths in risk of social exclusion in order for them to get involved.
- How to cope with cultural differences and conflicts
- Fund raising and media strategies
- How to make an impact on political institutions like municipal and regional councils, national and European parliaments.

Peer to peer
The co-operation and knowledge sharing within ECN are beneficial and fruitful to all type of staff in the ECN organisations. Professional collaboration across the ECN organisations are taken place, both in formalised small networks and via non formalised discussions between politicians and public servants.
